The design for next year's winter Olympic games in Vancouver have been revealed. Co-designed by
Corrine Hunt, the medals are cast from re-used circuit boards and is laser engraved so each one is different. The overall form corresponds to the topography of Vancouver.

The Olympics are self destructive. With the threat of global warming we cannot afford such flagrant displays of excess and overconsumption. The best way to avoid 300,000 tons of emissions is for people to simply stay at home.

Those medals are stunning.
All signs are that BC is going to throw an incredible olympics.
Thanks for sharing these.
The Oypmics are unifying and I am proud to be Canadian as always...I can't think of a better way to expend emissions... better than the hot air expended being negetive...Go Oh Canada!
wAy be so nationalistic? What the games are all about is unity. Go World!
Why be so nationalistic? As you said, the games are about unity. Go World!

Yes, and to further help we should also stop going to work, eating, breathing and living. Nothing like a global suicide pact to stop climate change.
Sheesh.
I am disappointed. Although the medals are beautiful the omission of the maple leaf symbol concerns me deeply. It has been obvious from the outset that the game organizers seem to believe that the games belong to Vancouver and to the indigenous people and not to the rest of Canada. I think that they deserve recognition and their artwork and symbolism is honest and relevant but it should not exclude our national symbol. I mean really there isn't even a maple leaf on the ribbon?
